Meeting Goal
Confirm 2027 event dates and coordination for the Molokai Holokai and the two Koa Kai Series partner races (M2O Foil and M2O Prone), and introduce two additional items on the 2027 calendar — the Molokai Marathon and a possible land and sea tournament with Molokai High School. This meeting is also a chance to surface early logistics, partnership, and scheduling concerns.
Alignment of Events
The Molokai Holokai and M2O races continue as the Koa Kai Series in 2027, with three linked events across a nine-day window: the Molokai Holokai (July 16–17), the M2O Foil race (July 19), and the M2O race (July 25). The series structure lets athletes compete across Maui, Molokai, and Oahu and rewards consistent performance with the Koa Kai Crown Champion title.

The Molokai Holokai Ho'olaule'a began in 2003 as Na Opio Hana Pa'a, a Celebration of Youth Opportunities. It involved a Maui to Molokai Challenge to bring ocean enthusiasts to Molokai. The event included community events and culminated in music and festivities at Malama Park. Over the years, the event evolved and adapted to community needs. However, Malama Park faced challenges and became unavailable. The hope is to bring Malama Park back as a venue for the event in the future.
